The last few days.

Over the last few days Oscar has been to the Home education group at the library where he learnt about seeds and bulbs and how and when they grow. The children looked at different pictures of flowers and tried to guess if they grew from seeds or bulbs, then they talked about when in the season they would flower.
They were shown how to grow cress by one of the older children and we have some cress seeds to grow some ourselves over the next week or two.
They also learnt about pollination and we have decided we will all do a project about bees over the next few weeks.

Oscar has read The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl and written a book review about it.

He has done some of a maths workbook which included a test of his time telling skills.

We bought a comic and Oscar really enjoyed all the activities about different vehicles.

We read some poetry.

We have decided to start doing some spellings with Oscar each week. I am not too sure how this will work out but hopefully he will be ok with it. He seemed pretty keen when we talked about it and was happy enough with the words I have given him to learn over the coming week.

Today was a lovely day but I had a horrible headache so Oscar went to Taekwondo with his Dad and got to road test his new scooter.

The 3 R's

This morning Oscar did some reading.

Oscar enjoys non fiction as much as fiction.

Some writing.

Oscar's not keen on writing because it takes too long. But with activity books (often found in charity shops), colouring, dot to dots and projects he actually does a fair bit.

And some arithmetic.

He is really starting to enjoys working with numbers.

At the weekend we had a bit of a clear out so this afternoon Oscar and I filled my shopping trolley with things we no longer use and we took them to our local charity shop.
This meant Oscar got to enjoy one of his favourite pass times. Splashing in puddles.

New project with a new friend.

Oscar and I had a lovely day today. We went to Oscars friend Hannah's house and the two of them started a new project. We plan to get together once a week for the children to do some work together.
The project is called All About Me and today they made their own Fact Files with information about them including their names, ages dates of birth height and weight. They made flip books about the people they live with and drew a map of where they live.

After working hard we all had some lunch and then the children played for a while.
Then the did some lovely dancing for us.

If your wondering what's on Oscars head it's the inside of Hannah's riding hat of course!

I'm sure Oscar is going to be really pleased about these lovely pictures a few years from now.

Fun with the boys.

Today Oscar and I went to a family fum day at a local school with four of his friends from nursery.
First they joined in a football skills session.
Then they made some pizzas.

Then they ate them.
There was also a treasure hunt and lots and lots of running around.
I think they all had a good time.

After all that we came home and had some quiet time before heading off to Taekwondo where Oscar was presented with his new belt.

Our week so far.

On Monday we spent the day at soft play with some of Oscars friends form nursery.
Tuesday we stayed at home and did some reading, colouring, maths, and puzzles.
Then we did some cooking. First Oscar helped me make Tooty Fruity Curry.

Then we made pancakes.

Today we went to our home ed group at the library. The children learnt all about the animals that wake up in spring and made pictures of birds in a nest. Then to finish off they sang some song about spring.

After all that it was off to the park, it was a really beautiful day. We all had something to eat then the children spent a few hours having fun in the playground.

Climbing,
 getting stuck,

unstuck.
Up,

across,
at the top,

and coming down.
Up again,

nearly there,

made it,
worth it for the view.

Then on the way home we bumped into a big blue bear.
